first packs of teaser set ready

And three of these sets are reserved for you.
But first things first. Here is another great Fashion Tribes online article for rose lovers, by Michelyn Camen.

And then: Uff! I am fighting with insurance forms and social security begging for a contribution from my little company. In between, when not fiddling with forms I made a few teaser sets ready, and made some room on the shelf.

While gluing the vials onto the mini perfume cards, and while packing the 8 teaser samples into the cardboard foldable little envelope boxes I realized that I want to change this until spring 10. By spring 2010 I will have the new tauer design ready. And I can tell you: The way I handle samples will change…

But right now, I am just happy that I managed to educate my virtue mart software behind my online shop to accept free shipment, finally I decided to price it at 23.5 Francs for 8 teasers, shipment included.  And I am happy, that I have the 40 first sets ready. Imagine: My first post on the teaser set was in Spring 09 … I published it May 19. Wow. Times flies by.
To celebrate this step: I give away three teaser sets. Just leave a comment below. As always: Random.org will be your friend when I pick the happy winners in a day or two…

The 8 teaser samples
(picture used on the online shop)

The first batch of them. But trust me:
I will change the way I pack them…

Bravo, Andy! Hope I am a lucky winner of one of your new teaser sets, but meanwhile congrats on having finalized how you want them to look and be packaged. Time does fly…

  2. Mark Says:

Looks really good when they are all pictured together like that. Makes you realise how much you have achieved. What a journey all of those little pictures represent!
Now I’m curious to now how you are going to handle samples next year. Just have to wait and see.

  3. Dusan Says:

I agree with Mark ~ seen together like that, the samples do speak volumes to your achievement, Andy! I won’t even mention the number of fans you’ve amassed over the years :-)
Throw me in the hat, please!

  4. Ines Says:

I would love to be teased and win a set. :)
Please include me in the draw.
I do wonder now how will you be packing them in the future. We’ll find out soon enough. :)

  5. Fernando Says:

Very nice, Andy! The teaser sets look good. But I agree that it’s important to find a better and easier way next year. It really has taken a long time. The result looks very nice though, as I’d expect from you.

I loved your entry about gruusig yesterday. It was sunny here then, but it’s gruusig today. No snow on the ground yet, but quite soon we will be in the months of white, not to really see our grass again until April.

  6. adriana Says:

Congratulations! It’s been exciting to watch everything unfold over the last few months. The teaser set looks wonderful.

  7. Jen Says:

HI Andy, congratulations;it’s one step at a time and right now making the teasers available is a huge accomplishment. Hoping that random.org is on my side this time…have a great day!

  8. Fab. Says:

Congratulations on a good-looking teaser set. And, of course, already looking forward to seeing the new design…

  9. Bunny Says:

oh Andy I’d go crazy assembling all those little sample cards! haha I can see why a better way is needed :)

  10. Krista Says:

That sounds like a lot of work. But they are beautiful.

  11. Anita Says:

Yeah, congratulations!I Would love to try your fragrances since they can’t be found where
I can be found. Really hope that random.org can find me!

  12. Michelyn Says:

I think your posters should know that 1million readers read the article on une chypree … reprint rights have been requested by several blogs . Hey Dusan …how are you

  13. AromaX Says:

Andy, you make me very curious to your new ideas about the sample sets…

Personally I really appreciate you setting price for the set not too high and including shipment. If I look to my own experience - I bought more easily samples when the price of shipment was known or included before pressing the “Buy” button :o) And a couple of times I had to cancel order because of too high shipment costs. Andy, I really love your customer friendly policy on samples. Thank you.

  14. Devon Hernandez Says:

They look wonderful Andy! I’m not a fan of gluing small things onto something else; it must be tedious, so here’s to you finding an easier solution come Spring ‘10! I’m also not a fan of giving the government MORE money (if I’m being frank, none at all hahaha!), so I feel your pain :)

Oh Random.org, will you be my friend? ;)

  15. hotlanta linda Says:

Does a new package for sample sets have your photoshop prints on the box?? The Atl is to receive 4 > 5 inches of rain between now and tomorrow morn - anyone have a spare rowboat?? :-) Silvia - the names of Bandit and Depp (as in actor Johnny Depp??) are well suited for your kittys; why change? :-) Jen, did you get a sample of Tubereuse?? And since Winter is primetime for candles, has anyone whiffed Godiva`s new family of candles scented w/ their confections??? I think we ALL would be wilder chocoholics than we ALREADY are if we lit these!!??!!( Personally, my curiosity is willing to risk it!) Andy, your pair of desert scents and Incense Extreme would be NICE for candles!

  16. Jeff Says:

And as well I’m here to win

  17. Jen Says:

Hi Linda, stay safe with the rains and I totally agree with you regarding the potential names of Sylvia’s cats–Bandit and Depp—so cute. They sound like little outlaws together! :) I have not gotten a sample of Tubereuse but it is on my list–as is Andy’s Maroc pour elle once those wooden boxes are available. I’m saving up to treat myself at Xmas! So tell me, Godiva has candles now–wow, sounds yummy. Is it a bit like Payard making chocolate themed perfumes?

  18. Stephan Says:

How nice to get teased with your sample sets. And how about a new bottle design for your fragrances, is there any picture available to get an idea, or is it still too early?

  19. zeram1 Says:

I’m so glad to see the advancement of your new “company”. How does it feel to no longer have to wake up in the morning to go to your ex-IT job?

  20. andy Says:

Hi Zeram1, trust me: I just feels perfect! I don’t work less, but having this vision what I work for is priceless

Good night, Stephan, actually, I have sent the final design out. It won’t be long before I talk about it here again…

Hi Jeff. Either this way, or the other way round, when I am visiting Kiev, ok?!

Good morning Hotlanta Linda, I hope your house stays dry! The box is the simples envelop box you can imagine and it is really just the teasers, bubble foil and the box. Reduce to the max and see. When coming up with teaser sets v2.0 in spring, then it will be a touch more shiny, I guess…

Hi Devon, we have at least two things in common ;-)

And thank you, Aromax, for your comment and your envelop that I got today! I can’t wait…

  21. andy Says:

oH, Wow!, Michelyn, I just hope that they will not all order at once ;-)
    I send you roses…

Hi Anita, fingers crossed. Your chances are for sure better than playing lotto or trying to find Mr. right when blind dating. ;-)

Hi Bunny, actually, it does not need a lot. Just a better presentation and an easier assembly of everything. Then I am already happy.

Hi Fab, I will talk about it like I did on the teaser set… and then we all wait for eternities ;-)

  22. andy Says:

Hi Jen, and you have a lovely evening

Good afternoon, Adriana, thank you for following!

Hi Fernando, isn’t it slightly frightening. We discussed on the same line last Sunday, when jogging, watching the trees without leaves, wondering how long it will take until they are all green again…

Hi Ines, I will give my best to tease you! ;-)

Good afternoon, Dusan, and greetings to you. Your name is in the hut, with greatest pleasure! Fingers crossed, and if it ain’t work…wait for December!

    Hi Mark, Thank you!

And good evening to you, Catherine, actually, I wanted them to be a bit pack a bit more luxurious, but then I said to myself, that I rather keep the price down and give folks a chance to try my scents. …

  23. Nina Z. Says:

Ooh, I’ve been hoping Santa would leave these in my stocking this Christmas, but just in case he forgets….

  24. curtis Says:

Those look fantastic! I’ve been mulling over ordering a set of samples, but hopefully now I won’t have to :) Please enter me in the draw!

  25. andy Says:

HI curtis, ok then… fingers crossed!

Hi Nina Z., I will remember Santa , you never know….

  26. Camilla Says:

    The teasers samples look lovely!
    I do hope random.org becomes a bit more…cooperative?
He (it?) never picks me up!
    Hmpf!
I’ll never forgive him for the last rose chypré draw. ..
I would say he is Gruusig… but I don’t know if it applies for SW?
Learning a foreign language is always tricky ;) !!

  27. andy Says:

Oh, Camilla, gruusig for sure applies for SW, too. But, maybe it has a heart this time!

  28. Eric Says:

I am new to your blog, and am enjoying reading backwards! I have smelled some of your scents on friends and find them amazing, I would love to try them myself….

  29. andy Says:

    Ok, then Eric, fingers crossed!

  30. chayaruchama Says:

Words can’t describe how happy I am for you; you have worked SO hard, and earned every kudo and laurel wreath…

Also, I am so thrilled to see my friends loving and appreciating each other
    [ SMM,Michelyn, Catherine Bromberg].
There is a marvellous artistic camaraderie about it, a cross-pollination of sorts that I adore

Blessings to you , W, Vero, and Momo ;-).

  31. AnnYM Says:

Hi Andy - The teasers are a wonderful idea. Some people prefer to apply by the drop than spray, granted you need to be more careful about spilling the contents. I hope these will be popular.
I’m so looking forward to hearing about your next “Rose” project!
Here’s hoping for your continued success!

  32. andy Says:

    Dear perfume Cherubim
Momo hasn’t shown up for a while, and DPD is taking over more and more. But Mr. DPD (not labelled, hence we can only guess) is for sure nice. But he is always sooo busy and has never time.

    Hie AnnYM
Thank you! And here is hoping for your being picked by Mr. Random!

  33. DSH Says:

    Congratulations Andy! :)

on jumping into the new company and Michelyn’s fab article on fashiontribes.com! i million readers and growing! Hope you’re having a lovely day… as always, fragrant hugs, Dawn

  34. Vladimir Says:

Dear Andy, I is interested to learn more about new tauer design, and the spring will come to Siberia so at a distant day:)

  35. andy Says:

Good evening, Dawn, and THANK YOU! I sure had a lovely day in between my insurance forms ;-)

I wish you a great day with many boxes and bottles!

  36. Silvia Says:

    Hi there!!
Ohhh! I’d just love to receive one of those sets!!would be a great pre-xmas gift!
Linda,Jen,I actually also think those names are cute..problem,”depp”means something like nerd in german..and dad’s german,sooo,nope..I’m not visualizing my dad calling the cat that way! ;)
    But thanks,girls!!!
Oh,Linda..those Godiva candles..I’d probably end up at the hospital after gobbling mine up..you know these days when you’re absolutely IN URGE of choc and search in every drawer for just one miserable crumb, and finally end up
    depressed because there’s nooothing left??!See..that’s when I’d bite the candle..I confess…
Oh and…ja,s’isch gruusig in Spain!! ;)

  37. andy Says:

Oh, sorry, Silvia, so you spent your day under a grey sky, too? Here no sun… and depp is for sure not a German name for a cat. Except a very stupid cat….

Good night to you, Vladimir. 6 more months and then we are all back in spring, I hope!

  38. hotlanta linda Says:

Silvia - for the amourous brown tabby`s name, we go from Depp to Pirate - cause all he does is `pirate` love! And yes, Payard vs Godiva - the chicken or the egg! - here, NST has the lowdown on the candles. The closest I`ve gotten to NO chocolate is eating plain, powdered cocoa; I eat Pamela`s dark choc chunk cookies; they are non-dairy and non-gluten.Otherwise, it`s get ingenious in the kitchen w/ the ingredients I`m allowed!!. :-) The rain is steady, but no downpours - phew!! :-)

  39. Julie Ellen Says:

Andy — how fantastic they look altogether!! what a treat for those lucky few selected by random…My birthday is in a few weeks, so maybe I will be the lucky one. Look forward to being among the chosen….

  40. andy Says:

Good Luck to you, Julie Ellen!

  41. Sabrina Says:

Hurrah! Teasers! I’d certainly love to have them.

I’m waiting for the chance to smell whatever delicious thing you do with the spices, though.

I’m sorry your weather is so bad; up here in eastern Finland we have been getting a huge fluffy crazy snowstorm for the past 24 hours or so. I am not even sure how much snow is on the ground, but I do know it made for very interesting driving!

  42. andy Says:

Good evening Sabrian, greetings north to ice and winter wonderland. We have to wait for snow down here and guess what: I do not mind ;-)

Patience on the spices… they need a few days more

  43. hotlanta linda Says:

OK, to cheer all, a reminder that today is the 40th anniversary of Sesame Street!! Let`s see, a songlist - `Yellow`, Coldplay, for Yellowbird; `Cookie Jar`, Jack Johnson, for Cookie Monster; `Piggys`, the Beatles, for Miss Piggy; `I`m Only Happy When It Rains`, Garbage, for Oscar, the Grouch; `Just the Two of Us`, Grover Washington Jr., for Bert and Ernie;`1,2,3,4,`,Feist, for The Count; and `Peace Frog`, the Doors, for Kermit - but mostly in title only!! There is a great video on YouTube of Miss Piggy w/ Joan Rivers selling scent!! Any other songs for the list??? :-)

  44. Gaz Says:

Santa Andy is always succeeding in getting me out of lurk mode. Though I suppose it’s a good thing that your scents are so popular that everyone wants to get their grubby little paws on them and try them out! :D

  45. Cheryl W Says:

I would give my left pinky toe for your teaser set. I can almost die happy just from the pictures. Time does fly so live and love while you can. Thanks so much for the opportunity to win.

  46. DianaWR Says:

The teasers samples look great! I am so excited that you have sample packs available now, since I cannot say enough good things about your line. Hopefully this means more folks will get to try your lovely scents. Thanks so much for the opportunity to win!

  47. Devon Hernandez Says:

HotlantaLinda - HA! great song list :) Godiva chocolate candles?! How did I miss that on NST?? Death to my wallet. Sigh.

  48. Devon Hernandez Says:

Jen - I just saw your comment from the other week (I missed it, and haven’t been on here for a few days, busy!) that you’re originally from Philly! Awesome! I’m in Lancaster :) What part of Philly?

  49. Devon Hernandez Says:

And I completely forgot - congratulations Andy, on Lonestar being in GQ!! Hooray! I’m soooo incredibly happy for you!

  50. Tama Says:

Ugh, I have fallen behind again! Congratulations on your GmbH-ness and all the progress you have made on the company.
I had a Tauer breakthrough! I wore Comme des Garcons + Artek Standard and it has this kind of resinous quality that I quite liked, which prompted me to try the previously not-so-liked Incense Extreme - and I appreciated it MUCH more this time. My nose is opening itself to new experiences.
So now I am looking forward to the new resins more than I was before…

  51. andy Says:

    Good morning, Tama
Welcome! I feel what you experience is quite what happens when you provoke the senses with new patterns: At first hand NO!, dislike, shock, rejection. At second thoughts, third thoughts the nerves are getting ready for a new experience. It just needs time

Hi Devon, I thank you! and can tell you I am happy with you!

Hi DianaWR, I thank you. This is exactly the idea behind the teaser set: make folks try . Because I want folks to know what perfumery can be.

  52. andy Says:

Good morning Cheryl W. , We have calendar hanging on the wall in the kitchen, last week it said something like ” do not wait until you are dead with singing. ”

Oh, my! Gaz: I sure had a big smile over my face, reading “grubby little paws on them …”, it made me think in little brown bears playing with the teaser cards ;-)

  53. Wayne Says:

Ooh, Andy… tease me! I hope I’m not too late! Like Tama, I’m trying to open my nose to resins, which were never my favourite notes, with a couple of notable exceptions such as LADDM. However recently I experienced Goutal’s Encens Flamboyant and Myrrhe Ardente and I think I might have crossed the ‘resinous bridge’, especially with the Encens (not so much with the myrrh!). So I’m dying to try your takes on that theme.

good luck with the new packaging adventures!

  54. andy Says:

Good morning to you, Wayne, I include you into the draw with great pleasure and I can see that Myrrh is much tougher than incense to get used to. I personally favor working with incenses…

  55. Jen Says:

HI Everyone–Andy it looks like everyone is keeping their fingers and toes crossed that random.org will pick them for this teaser drawing!!!! Hi Devon, I’m from Philly Philly–downtown. Don’t get there as often as I like these days but love it. Lancaster is great too. I know a lot of the best products at the farmer’s market and Reading Terminal come from there! Sylvia too bad that Depp means “stupid cat” in German. How about another perfume name fit for an adventurous male: Jicky or even Maroc (in honor of Andy)? And Linda, you are amazing when it comes to songs–you’ve got more tunes up your sleeve than anyone I know! Have a great day everyone!

  56. KimP Says:

Oh my - I love your frags and the cards are exquisite…I would love to have them :)

  57. sae Says:

wow, so beautiful packages! how attractive they look! sorry i havent seen/known these samples are like this . each of it has strong sense and vivid visual image. so unique , playful and great.
and as ive only worn “L’air du désert marocain” , im curious what others are like..
the visul image is important as it gives you the instant like/dislike, then next you smell the perfume and satisfy your 2nd sense, with nose…

  58. ScentScelf Says:

Oh, Andy, such toying with emotions…the tease of the graphics…the lure of the draw…I need to come up with a little compulsive superstitious ritual appropriate for this combination. Off to pretend I am breathing freely, whistling a happy tune… :) :) (Actually, the happy tune part is easy; how generous of you to share the joy…)

  59. andy Says:

Good morning, ScentScelf I hope your heart beat and breathing normalized. I do not want to be blamed for heart attacks and alike ;-)

    Good morning to you, SAE
I hope you win, so you can test all my scents. They are quite different one from the other… each one is a little world of its own….

And Hi KimP, wishing you good luck. I will draw the three winners in a few hours.

  60. waftbycarol Says:

    Hi Andy
I would love to be included in the draw , you teaser !!
Then I could review more of your fragrances on my blog !
    Milano sounds fantastic !

  61. andy Says:

You are in, WaftbyCarol . I hope you win for entirely selfish reasons ;-)

  62. waftbycarol Says:

    *WINK*

  63. andy Says:

This draw is closed. Congratulations to the winners. And for all others: there will come more draws….

  64. Deborah Hall Says:

Congratulations on your new teaser set. How I would love to have one!
Have recently embarked on a massive sampling “must try these before I die” program and of the 50 or so samples I have tried thus far, L’Air du Desert Marocain is my absolute number one favorite. Bravo! Hope to be able to experience more!
