I do this advent calendar to share my joy of looking back to a thrilling year and looking forward to the holidays and 2011. And not much else. Thus, anything goes, any comment is welcome. And, well, maybe, if you could: What’s your favorite animal?
Mine: I have many. I am switching my favorites from sheep to poodle (you see the common trait?) to rabbit and back to canis lupus familiaris.

Favorite animal is definitely the domestic dog. Don’t tell my Newfoundlands but my favorite dog is my Great Pyrenees! She’s not only a mama’s girl but also a canine perfumista! Loves to sniff my test scents.
I like fish. They are quite silent creatures.

I have several favorites, but having just returned from Japan, I have realized the FOX is very beautiful and special to me; it is also a very magical creature in Japanese folklore.

My favourite animal is my Danish-Swedish Farmdog who looks just like the dog from the movie The Mask. I’ve also always had a soft spot for sloths, armadillos and wombats. Oh, and manatees! Have a great December and Christmas
I am developing a deeper relationship with my cat, we talk to each other, she is my favorite right now, but I am often distracted by our bunny Oreo…..what would a perfume called Oreo smell like?
My favourite animal would either be a Horse or a Panda, no similarities between the two, but I think they are both amazing animals in their individual ways.

I’ve always loved wild cats, especially lions. This is mainly because I like pet cats and I think it is quite interesting to see the behaviors of my tabby cat writ large by the very very similar behaviors of a pride of lions.

Dear Andy; animals make my heart beat – all of them. But, for today, since you asked, I vote for otters. In the paper here, there is a story about someone who took otters from Puget Sound (which are doing well here but are not wanted as they poop on the docks and so forth) and drove them carefully, non stop 15 hours and without talking (as they have to be kept very cool – they get really stressed out if temperature gets too warm or if they hear human voices) to a river in New Mexico where they had become extinct and are very much wanted. I remember reading A Ring of Bright Water as a young girl and falling in love wth otters. This story today made me all weepy with joy that they will be in a beautiful, quiet place with lots of fish. Otters! And a bottle of du Maghreb please!! Thank you!

Hi Andy and everyone…loved reading everyone’s answers…thought and thought about this…then thought some more (yes, now I’m exhausted!) every animal I considered was either facsinating or endearing (or both) in some way…otters are so funny,dogs are smart and loyal (although my neighbor’s dog is dumb as a box of rocks), a giraffe: nature’s mosaic! big cats are just thrilling, wolves are so majestic it almost makes me cry, elephants mourn their dead…how can I pick just one?? Nature’s infinite variation and brilliance of design is unsurpassed. Thus I shall take refuge in fantasy and select the Mythical Dragon.
Hi Andy, Win or not, I love your Advent Calendar. It’s hard to pick a favorite animal, but cats are always a favorite. Right now my Tuxedo cat Fritz is my favorite animal. He came to us on New Years Eve day 2008 and has been a wonderful gift with his winning ways and smart cat attitude.

I love dogs, especially wirehaired dachshunds! Other animal loves include: horses, wolves and cheetahs.
My favourite animal is a cat. I have 2 smokey and gizmo, they are brother and sister
Love the advent calendar. I’m a cat lover. Can’t have one in my place so take every opportunity to take care of my friends cats. Each so different and delightful, whether willing to be a snuggly lap cat or the most aloof disdainful creature ever to stalk the earth. My second love is eagles ever since I chanced upon an eagle cam website just as the eggs were hatching. What an amazing journey to take with them until their final flights from the nest.
Cats are my favourite. WE have a pure white moggy called REuben who has great camouflage in this snowy weather!

Choosing a perfume, helps choose the day you want, gives a positive mood to say the least
Cuttlefish. That’s strange sounding, right? But they are mind-boggling-ly-cool animals: they can change colors to match their surroundings (but are color blind, which makes it so much cooler than a chameleon). They can change the texture and the shape of their bodies. They are super smart. And they’re beautiful.

Cats! I love all sorts of animals, but cats have a special place in my heart. My home wouldn’t feel like home without my kitties, Nicolai and Babette. I feel pretty protective of big cats too, like Tigers and Cheetahs. They’re so sleek and powerful, yet very endangered – I can’t help worrying about them.
Oh, goodness. Cats are so thrilling- mysterious, aloof, yet undignified and silly. But I would love to see penguins in person.

Hmmm…I don’t really have one favorite but I’ve always liked salamanders and gorillas, and in a practical sense my favorite is cats because we have a few now (and dogs because I had a lab growing up).
My favorite animal would be my dog Desdemona who is part Keeshound and part Sheltie. I also love pigs and goats. And naked animals of any kind…rats, mice, cats, guinea pigs. I love the way their skin feels like suede:)
