lonestar memories

January 26th, 2012

The other day I was in New York and talked to a few perfume lovers there. And as I learned that a lot of perfume lovers actually do not know what Lonestar means and that many lovers of my scents do not know how they are produced: There we go with a little repetition course on tauer.  Back there in NY I mentioned Lonestar Memories and that I lived in Texas once, for a while, doing a post doc in College Station, and that Lonestar Memories means bascially Texas Memories. Right now I am filtering Lonestar Memories and get it ready for a bottling party later at tauerville.

For those who are new here or think we have a marketing, sales and bottling department: No, we don’t. And yes, we bottle all our flacons ourselves. And we= me and helping hands from the W.-factor who helps from time to time.

And yes, Lonestar Memories is the scent some call  “the cowboy” scent. Back then, a while ago, when I launched it, it came with a picture, a visual referencing, tagging the scent. You see the cowboy in the post’s picture.  Initially, some perfume lovers thought it is actually me on this picture, but unfortunately, I am a bit less handsome. It is a picture I bought from an agency. Since then I get their catalog, but that’s another story.

Anyhow, I have a hat like you see it in today’s post picture and I wear jeans, all the time. Thus, I guess, a part of me is there, too.  And yes, today is Lonestar bottling day, which means: Put the juice into a dispenser (10 liters), pump 50 ml each into blue pentagonal bottles, crimp them with the manual crimping tool, put the rings around the neck, camouflaging the crimping and providing support for the top cover, polish the flacons, put the lot number label on the bottom, put the Lonestar label onto the bottle shoulder, put the black colored beech wood top cover on and put the bottles into the shelves again for later boxing into pentagonal tin boxes.

simple enough.

Dear Andy, Lonestar Memories is one of mine favourites, I have some drops in a bottle of old style, and happiness!!! – I have almost full new dark blue bottle!
Excellent, on the present courageous perfume- I love also start and development and base!
It is a pity, but I have no such hat :)

  2. Andy says:

    Fragrant greetings Vladimir
It is an interesting fragrance. I just realized how complex it is…. rediscovering my scents again :-)

Good morning, Andy! Thanks for refreshing my memories. I remember it was confusing once about you being in Texas as I didn’t know whether you was born there or stayed. So they were wild (or better said post-wild) college days? :) And the name – I guess you was discussing it either on your blog or on Basenotes? Nice memories…
There is one thing I totally disagree with you. And that’s about comparing yourself to the cowboy in terms of more or less handsome. Cause… you are really really charming.

    Fragrant morning Andy,
    you lived in Texas?
I had the same experience for just one year in SA:
sunny, dry hot and armadillos everywhere! :-)

    See you in Milan?

  5. Andy says:

Thank you, AromaX, now I am all flattered :-)

Indeed, it is funny to go back in time and think about Lonestar Memories. It is not long ago but seems like eternities…

  6. Andy says:

    yep, Kannalz
and yes, I have seen a lot of amardillos there, too. Roadkill. :-(

Not less handsome. Different handsome! He is of course more raw. But I still long for the rumoured 90′s style T-shirt. Where is it?

  8. Persolaise says:

The world is divided into people who know Lonestar Memories is one of the most beautiful perfumes ever made and people who are wrong.

I love everything about it… except for one detail which I didn’t know until today. I thought you took your cowboy picture in Texas whilst you were wandering across some ranch. The fact that you purchased it from an agency is far less romantic.

Please can we re-write history and stick to the dream version of events?

Hi Andy, I think I am the first woman to comment that I also like Lonestar Memories very much.. My collegues (mostly women) think It is pretty heavy, but after a while they all like it too.
p.s. I ordered two samples of cologne du Maghreb. at Indie scents. Cannot wait!!!
    Fragrant greetings!!

I appreciate the inclusion of how you bottle your perfumes. If I lived in Zurich I’d ask for an invitation to assist in the bottling party as the repetitiveness of it must open the door for good conversation while doing it. That and it must smell rather interesting during too?

  14. Andy says:

    Fragrant greetings, Paul
Nice to see you here. About bottling: Yes, it comes close to a meditative endeavor. But we usually do not talk then. It is silent Zen :-)
But it sure smells interesting. A bit too much after a while…
    have a lovely day!

Howdy, Andy! Greetings from Texas. Lonestar Memories is an amazing fragrance, and I’m glad you created something so rich to summate your impression of the state. It’s an amazing place. I didn’t know you were in Aggieland for graduate studies. I spent great times there as well :) I’ve moved away, and have no hat or cowboy boots, but have fond memories.

Hope your bottling project goes smoothly. I will wear LM today in solidarity. Be well.

    Thank you, Natalie! Highly appreciated…
