Une rose chyprée

UneRoseChyprée100.gif “Une rose chyprée” is an oriental rose on a chypre base. It is an elegant perfume built around two natural extracts from rosa damascena, absolute and the steam distilled essential oil.
Its heart is lifted by spices (Bay and cinnamon) and a fresh accord built around bergamot, lemon and clementine. Green Bourbon geranium oil lets the rose petals shine and contrasts with the dark resinous accord in the base, built around labdanum, oakmoss, patchouli, vetiver and vanilla.

This fragrance is not available in any shop.
Enjoy!

The description of your “Une rose chyprée” sounds very interesting!Would you mind if I come along at your laboratory in Zürich and have the honour to smell it?Best regards Brunella

  2. Divinemama Says:

Une rose chyprée sounds divine! I can’t wait to try it.

  3. Dimitri Says:

This sounds wonderful Andy! I am also nuts about geranium oil, so this sounds right up my alley :)

  4. andy Says:

    Dear Brunella
I have a better idea: Why don’t you come and join us at our Duftapero, December 13, 17-19.00 at the Felsenegg Keller, Spiegelgasse 18. The rose chyprée will be there together with rose absolutes!
And a glass of something sparkling is waiting for you, too!
    Dear Divinemama
So let us hope you will win in the next 24 days!

    Dear Dimitri
I had no idea.. so this might be something for you. But a word of warning: The rose is really very…present!

  5. Tama Says:

This sounds amazing. I would not be able to wear it around my stepmother, who hates rose with a passion, but I am always questing for really good rose. I hope to give this a sniff!

  6. andy Says:

Dear Tama, funny , the idea that someone can not love roses. Hmm…I hope you will win a sample in the coming 24 days and convince your stepmother of the beauty of roses.

  7. Musette Says:

I absolutely adore geranium oil - will be interested to see how it interacts with the rose.

xoMusette (misspelled it in the first advent calendar!)

  8. zeram1 Says:

    Andy,

How do you always do it (hit the sweet spot in our hearts)?

I love rose-based scents, and hopefully will be able to win in the next few weeks.

  9. Jamie Says:

What a beautiful description. I love to be surrounded by the scent of roses but rarely wear the scent. Yours will be the exception!

  10. Marietta Says:

What exactly does chypree mean? I really love Chanel 19 and I hear it referred to as a green chypre..? I haven’t heard a definition yet that makes sense to me.

  11. Helen Says:

Hello Andy, this sounds fantastic- a spicy green rose? keeping my fingers crossed to be a lucky sniffer..

  12. andy Says:

    Dear Helen
    good luck to you!

    Dear Marietta
Chyprée means “on a chypre base, on a chypre background, with a chypre accord” in that sense. and the chypre accord is built around oakmoss, patchouli, labdanum, bergamot.
    Pure heaven!

    Dear Jamie
Indeed, I know exactly what you mean. Roses are -by the way- difficult to work with, too. And endlessly thrilling!

    Dear Zeram1
hehehe…. I am Swiss: you know the story of Tell and his son with the apple on his head.

    Dear Musette
    thus, let’s cross our fingers…

  13. Tama Says:

Thank you for your reply, Andy - I hope I win one of the days, too, so I can try the Rose Chypree! For the record, she likes roses, just not rose-fragranced things. I think she associates it with the cheap cloying rose of the hippie days, or old ladies drenched in rosewater or something…

  14. AnnE Says:

Andy, this is the one I’ve been waiting for! I love rose, and chypre is my favorite category; therefore, I think I will be in seventh heaven to smell this soon. :-)
Also, I love the artwork. Your own, yes? Simple and elegant, but still playful. Perfect!

  15. andy Says:

Dear AnnE, indeed, home made design ;-)

  16. hotlanta linda Says:

Sounds as if an opulent and well-tended garden of an intimate size was created! would it be marketed SOON to give relief from a dry winter!!!

  17. Tama Says:

Andy, I got my box today and have just tried on the Rose Chypree. I say… WOW. Someone I knew sometime in my life wore something that this is evoking. It is incredibly elegant, and soft and enveloping, but does have that little tang of the citrus that keeps it from being a bore, or too intimidating (like Mitsouko kind of intimidates me, like I’m not rich enough to wear it). It is something I would wear out, but not to dinner. I don’t think it will work well with food aromas. But definitely the lobby of the opera, and definitely a general night on the town. I will, of course, just WEAR it, too, for no reason other than to be happy smelling myself, and because I never freakin’ go anywhere.
    Thank you so much!
I’ll be wearing Maroc pour Elle tomorrow!! and am hoping Santa brings me the Desert Marocain I asked for. Did you know thaton Now Smell This it was the one scent more people wanted in their stocking than any other? Good for you!
    xox

  18. andy Says:

    Dear Tama
I thank you for sharing. Indeed, Mitsouko, 2 years later than the original “Chypre”. I haven’t sniffed it since a while . Must do so right now…

  19. Catherine Says:

    Andy,

Will there be some way for those living in Los Angeles to sample une rose chypree? I’m more than intrigued….

    Catherine

  20. andy Says:

    Dear Catherine
not in the next weeks, I am sorry. Maybe I can use the lucky guys later next year as rose depot…. :-)

  21. Michelyn Says:

i would love to try this Andy. i miss you… and send you hugs.
